Counting of diaspora ballots from embassy voting gets under way
The counting of ballots cast at diplomatic missions has begun at the Counting and Results Centre.
Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesman Valmir Elezi announced this at a press conference.
The vote took place on 6 June at 30 diplomatic missions.
"Of the 27,724 registered citizens, 22,360 cast their ballots, representing 82.46%," Elezi said.
He added that the verification process for packages presumed to contain ballots from out-of-Kosovo voting — specifically postal voting — is ongoing at the Counting and Results Centre.
"By the end of Wednesday, 23,300 packages had been included in the assessment," Elezi said.
Regarding rejected packages, Elezi said the most common reason for rejection is the absence of the registration certificate that voters receive from the CEC.
