"You were freedom's first rifle" — singer Leonora Jakupi pays tribute following the death of Sahit Jashari

Singer Leonora Jakupi has reacted to the death of former Kosovo Liberation Army commander Sahit Jashari.

In a Facebook post, Jakupi expressed her grief over the loss of Jashari, remembering him as a liberator who kept his smile even through the most difficult of times.

"I want to remember you smiling, as a liberator, because you knew no other way… You never stopped smiling, even in the hardest of times! You who were freedom's first rifle — may Kosovo's soil rest lightly upon you! Men like you never die, Commander Sahit Jashari!", the singer wrote.
