US Embassy urges Kosovo to embrace natural gas: "You are not producing enough energy"

The US Embassy in Kosovo has urged the country to join a liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline, stating that Kosovo is currently not producing enough energy to cover domestic demand. In a response to RTV21, the Embassy said Kosovo needs all available energy sources to meet expected future increases in demand. "The United States supports initiatives to diversify Kosovo's energy sources. This includes the use of American technology for coal gasification, domestic lignite coal, renewable energy sources, and encouraging Kosovo to join the liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline described in our article last week. One thing is clear: Kosovo is currently not producing enough energy to cover domestic demand. Kosovo needs all available energy sources to meet expected future increases in demand, to enhance energy diversity and security, and to reduce dependence on costly electricity imports. Diversification is not about choosing one source over another; it is about ensuring that Kosovo has multiple reliable options available to meet growing demand in the future," a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Pristina told RTV21./RTV21/21Media
