Heavy rain and lightning: today's weather forecast

Today (Friday), a cold front moving in from the north-west of the continent is expected to pass through during the early hours, bringing rainfall across the entire country, which will at times take the form of heavy downpours accompanied by lightning strikes.

Localised rainfall will continue into the morning hours, after which the day will see frequent cloud cover interspersed with sunny intervals.

Wind will blow from the north and north-east, and is expected to be strong at times, with speeds of between 15 and 45 km/h.

Temperatures will drop significantly, with lows ranging from 11 to 13°C and highs between 17 and 20°C.
